In his most adventurous project to date, Richard Tognetti leads a group of musicians and surfers down the rugged surf coast of northern Western Australia, through tough desert landscape, to create a new multimedia concert at the intersection of music and nature.
Travelling with Tognetti from Darwin to Perth via world heritage-listed Ningaloo Reef, making music and surfing with the locals along the way, is a remarkable collection of artists: photographer Jon Frank, director Mick Sowry, composer Iain Grandage, didjeridu master Mark Atkins and the young musicians of ACO2.
Together they’ll create a performance using music and film to further delve into the links between surfing, the ocean, landscape and music previously illuminated in Musica Surfica and The Glide. Tognetti also directs ACO2, the next generation of Australia’s top string players, in Shostakovich, Bach and more.
