Google over the last year has been working over-board for getting a personalized webspace. A space where the internet is different for different people. And as of today Google has added another step ahead to that mission. On 30th of August Google introduced the free calling from Gmail for all uniformed military personnel with a valid United States Military email id. To start this service all US Military Personnel will have to get to the Google Accounts Page. Then click on “Edit” next to “Email Addresses”. Add your “.mil” email in the “Add an additional email address” field. Click Save. You will receive a verification, email in your inbox with a link. Click on the link and verify the mail id. On the chat roster there will be a dialpad to make calls. Even the families and friends of all U.S Personnel will be able to call at $0.2/minute. With all these changes Google are slowly inching towards that complete solidarity of search and the internet. As Ilya Frank was quoted in Mashable, “We recognize and appreciate the sacrifices U.S. troops make when they serve abroad, and we’re proud to help make it a little bit easier for them to stay connected and hear a familiar voice”. Google has already rolled out a full fledged calling service right from Gmail chat for USA and Canada users.
