Ustinov is a Stallion bred through Equine Royalty! A magnificent looking individual through Top US Sire Seeking The Gold whom at the time commanded a US $250, 000 Service Fee and produced over 90 Individual Stakes Winners.
Ustinov raced during arguably the Greatest period of Australian Racing. The time when Australia had Multiple Champions - Lonhro, Sunline, Northerly, Might and Power. Yet, despite this Ustinov won the AAMI Vase, 2nd GP1 Caulfield Guineas(beaten by a nose by Lonhro) , 2nd GP1 Champagne, 2nd Ascot Vale and 3rd in the memorable Yalumba Stakes - where Sunline and Lonhro went toe to toe.
Ustinov was favourite for most of his races and it was his temperament (stallion) being the major factor to why he did not secure the majority of these races. In any other era, Ustinov would have won 3 or more of these Key GP1's and his service fee would have been the highest in Australia. To trump his quality, Ustinov produced a Group 1 winner in his very first crop!
