Important information about your first session:
It's normal to feel excited, aprehensive or nervous about your first session - after all, you have no idea what kind of torture session you are in for! During the first session, either Stuart or myself will sit down with you and go through some details about your health and goals. We will then take you through a workout that is challenging and effective while supporting and guiding you through each of the exercises. We'll often give you homework to do during the week and find out what you need to succeed - be it phone calls, a training diary, information or an at home program - then we provide the tools you need to achieve your goals. Remember we are not here to yell at you, we are here to get the best out of you by encouraging and supporting. Please bring a towel and a water bottle to all sessions.
I am qualified further than just Personal Training; I am also a Fitness Therapist. This means in addition to training the average joe, I can also work with higher risk populations – such as those with heart disease, neurological impairments, mobility problems or knee reconstructions. I've worked with national athletes, people with mental illness, "oldies" (running weight training programs with 80 and 90 year olds!), people recovering from heart surgury, people who weigh 200kg, people who have had knee replacements, people who have had hip replacements; and even lots of normal, fit, healthy 20-something year olds with goals to get ripped and look hot!
While personal training is about a physical workout, it provides benefits on so many more levels besides just the physical. It’s one thing to work out and get physically stronger and fitter, but it’s amazing how that translates through to other areas in life. Lifting weights not only gives you physical strength, it brings a multitude of rewards including mental poise and confidence, and the courage to dig deep and discover you are stronger than you ever realised. Out clients have many reasons for working out - sometimes its vanity (nothing wrong with that!), sometimes its quality of life and energy, sometimes its to ward off depression and start feeling good, sometimes its to be a better parent or spouse, sometimes its to avoid an early death or to turn around a health condition, and sometimes its a stress release. Whatever your reason for starting on a fitness journey, we bet you will end up with so much more.
